Nutrition

  • Our tuition includes Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks (plus supper for night care).Ourmeals are cooked fresh, daily, following strict hygiene precautions and in line with the standards of the Child and Adult Care Food Protection (CACFP) program. We pride ourself in being a CACFP participating childcare program, which also means additional training, and extra inspections by a CACFP nutritionist/sponsoring agency.  This is an indication of our commitment to ensuring to providing healthy and quality meals to the children that are entrusted into our care.Follow this link to learn more about the CACFP Program.

At Kaamba, we ensure that all children are served nutritious foods in appropriate amounts for their dietary needs. Sample menus for breakfast, lunch/supper and snacks are available in the program. Children will be encouraged, but never forced to try each food item. We use the following guidelines:

    • Meals are fresh and are prepared daily just before serving.
    • Children receive 1% milk/Low Fat, or whole milk in accordance with DOH guidelines.
    • Children are served a variety of rice and breads that are wholegrains.
    • Fresh fruit is served during two of the meals.
    • Fresh-cut vegetables are served both separately and mixed into foods to enhance their nutritional value.
    • We serve turkey, chicken, and red meat products. We do not serve pork.
    • Snacks are balanced with appropriate amounts of fruits, liquids, and starches.
    • We do not serve candy in our program. 100% Juice is allowed on days of celebrations.
